Spa website in Bali: how tourists really choose a spa

Why do tourists scroll past your spa and book the one next door?

Having travelled to every country in the world, I have booked spas in places where I knew nobody. In Bali I chose the way everyone does: on my phone, in a couple of minutes, by what Google and a friend’s WhatsApp link showed me. When I audited The Faces Spa in Ubud and Sanur, I found a beautiful spa that Google saw as a single word. Here is what I changed, step by step.

Step by step

01

Tourists search by treatment and area

Nobody types your brand name on day one. They type "face massage Ubud", "head spa Sanur" or "facial Bali". The title and description of every page must use those words, in every language you speak.

02

Your link preview is your first photo

Guests share spa links in WhatsApp groups and Instagram stories. Without a preview image and title the link looks empty, and the friend scrolls on. One 1200×630 image per language fixes it. More on titles and previews in why a website gets no enquiries.

03

Put prices on the home page

Tourists compare two or three spas by price and duration in a minute. A menu hidden three clicks deep loses to a spa that shows "90 min · IDR 900,000" right away.

04

One booking button per treatment, one WhatsApp per salon

If you have two salons, give each its own WhatsApp. A prefilled message with the treatment and the salon saves your team a round of questions and the guest a minute.

05

Tell your story in plain words too

A concept like five elements is a real advantage. Keep it, and next to it say plainly what you do: face massage, head spa, rituals for couples.

06

Speak your guests’ languages

Bali spas welcome guests in English, Russian and Indonesian. Give each language its own address and preview so each guest finds the version they read.

07

Reviews and real people

Tourists trust reviews more than any slogan. Show real Google reviews and your therapists. Never invent testimonials: guests notice. See how a beauty clinic shows trust without inventing reviews.

08

Ads need a good page and consent

Google Ads that lead to a page titled "The Faces" get a low quality score and a pricier click. And Indonesian data law expects consent before advertising cookies.

Concept · our vision

Example: The Faces Spa, Ubud and Sanur

The Faces Spa was created by Anna and Evgeny Dubinin, who have more than 20 years in spa and beauty. Two salons in Ubud and Sanur offer face massage, vegan head spa and five-element rituals. I audited the website in three languages and built a concept of a new one. This is my vision, not the official spa website.

The bottom line

A spa website is the bridge between a tired traveller and your treatment room. Clear titles, a photo preview, prices in sight and one tap to WhatsApp turn a search into a booking. The beauty is already there: the website just has to let people see it.

I have chosen spas in dozens of countries from my phone, so I build a spa website the way a tired traveller reads it: in one minute, with prices and a booking button in sight.

I audit and design websites through the eyes of someone who has seen how businesses welcome customers in every country on earth.

Questions and answers

Do I need a website if my spa is on Google Maps and Instagram?

Yes. Maps and Instagram bring people to you, and the website answers their questions: menu, prices, salons and booking. It is also what Google and messengers show when someone shares your link.

Should prices on a Bali spa website be in IDR or USD?

Show IDR, the currency guests pay in. If many guests ask, add an approximate USD figure in the FAQ rather than next to every price.

Is WhatsApp enough for spa bookings?

For most Bali spas it is the main channel. Give each salon its own WhatsApp with a prefilled message and keep online booking as a second option.
